The running of the
Brisbane 1000 was held at Brisbane International
Speedway on Saturday night (3rd November) with Dennis
Bullpitt having another sensational run in his TSS
Falcon.
Bullpitt started out of
position three in the first heat and fell back one spot
to finish 4th.
Heat two saw Dennis
start in 8th, as he pressed on forward to clinch several
places and finish in 5th place.
Starting out of
position 2 in heat three, Dennis slotted into 3rd around
the first corner, Bullpitt holding onto the position
until a slight error on the last lap saw Steve Price
duck through, Dennis finishing in 4th.
With over 30 cars
turning up for the night, Qualifying out of position 13
for the final, Dennis drove the wheels of his car and
chose his timing, picking off car by car. Bullpitt
made his way up to 5th at about half race distance.
After contact with Jason Campbell, Bullpitt got sent
high which allowed Jason Campbell past, with Dennis
greeting the checkered flag in 6th.
The team is still
fighting gremlins within the car, after trouble with the
electric fan and exhaust gaskets in the final, but a top
ten finish out of a field of 30 cars is still at the
pointy end and the team couldn't be happier.
Without crew chief Tony
Reinke the team wouldn't be going forward, all his hard
work is starting to pay off.
All three Toowoomba
Steering Service sponsored cars of Shane Macdonald
(highest qualifier), Robert Trapp and Rodney Pammenter
qualifed in the top 6, and were given the opportunity to
race in a 6-lap Dash. Macdonald finished 2nd to
Steve Price while Rodney Pammenter finished in 5th and
Trapp 6th.
Unfortunately all three
cars were unluckily forced out of the feature race with
damage, but a strong showing by the Toowoomba contingent
was great to see.
Dennis will have to
miss round 2 of the G&W Racing at Maryborough, after
problems arose with the tow vehicle. However The
team will be rearing to go at Charlton Raceway on the
17th November.
