Harsh luck at Maryborough for Bullpitt
Monday February 26, 2007. TSS Motorsport

Dennis Bullpitt made the trek up to Maryborough Speedway for round 6 of the Queensland HDS Modified Production Series.  Bullpitt had never raced at the venue before and was eager to try out the Mac1 Designs sponsored Falcon.

Bullpitt had the luck to have drawn pole for the first heat.  Dennis opted to start from the rear of the field as he wasn't sure what the car would be like.  Bullpitt made good ground and moved past a few cars finishing a fine fifth.

Heat two was a hard luck story.  Dennis was making a move on the outside of Glenn Pagel up the back straight as the two cars just rubbed wheels.  Pagel spun out of contention as a steering component had broken from the small impact.  Dennis was unfortunately black flagged by the officials over the incident.  Both drivers not agreeing with the call but, saying it was a racing incident but nothing else could be done.

Dennis had a front row start for the final heat, and he knew he had to make the most of it.  Bullpitt darted into the lead in the first corner, as he cleared out pushing the Falcon to the limits on a track he has had little track time in.  Dennis raced home across the line in 1st, with New South Wales champion Michael Hally not being able to chase down Bullpitt.

The win was just what TSS Motorsport needed as that holstered him straight into the A-main.
Dennis would start out of 17th position out of a total of 35 plus cars fronting for the event over the night.

But this was not too be the night for Dennis, as a few laps into the race he came into contact with another car which rode over his bonnet and punctured a hole in the tappet cover and thermostat housing.  Dennis had to retire on the infield.  Although Bullpitt scored a DNF, his credibility as a force to be reckoned with in his new venture in Modified Production had gone un-noticed.

Fellow Toowoomba Steering Service racers Shane Langton finished 10th and Shane Macdonald 11th.  Rodney Pammenter just missed out on the final transfer spot coming 5th in the B-main.

Dennis will be racing at his home track at Charlton Raceway in two weeks time for the final round of the HDS Series.
