Toowoomba's Dennis Bullpitt is looking
forward to the upcoming assault on two of the biggest
national Modified Production Sedan events that are held each
season with the beginning at Lismore Speedway in NSW for the
National title where Bullpitt is one of 70+ competitors all
trying to achieve their personal goals followed by the
Queensland title the week after at his home track Charlton
Speedway in Toowoomba.
Bullpitt has set himself
the first goal of trying to win a heat race followed by
qualifying directly for the feature event at Lismore in the
Australian title event. If the qualification goal is
achieved the Toowoomba Steering & Suspension team will then
set new goals for where they finish in the big race.
Bullpitt sponsors or offers
assistance to a number of race drivers in Modified
Production Sedans and although he is a Ford man in his EL
Falcon he has strong representation for his business from
Holden drivers in the Macdonald Brothers team of Shane &
Nathan and the husband and wife team of Cathy & Rodney
Pammenter who he will have to race with and against and whom
he will assist and seek assistance from at the race track.
In the lead up to the
Easter weekend Australian title Bullpitt raced at Lismore
Saturday week ago and smashed the oil cooler of the car
which pumped the sump dry. After some work on the car they
tested last Saturday night with great results and the
feeling that everything is set and ready for the national
title.
With all things being good
after the Australian Championship Bullpitt would settle for
no less than a top five position in the Queensland title
even though it’s a very competitive state title.
Bullpitt spoke of the
upcoming racing. "The national title has the best of the
nation all there and it will be tough which is why we are
not yet looking beyond qualifying before we reassess. With
the Queensland title though I feel we are capable of a top
five finish having finished in the top five at many events
this season around Queensland. Sure racing is fun and that’s
what it is meant to be however once we cross from the pit
enclosure onto the race track we all get the 'blow the doors
of everybody else' fever! I'd be happy with a straight car
and to be in both feature races at the national and the
Queensland titles."
Dennis is appreciative of his loyal crew that
includes Crew Chief Darren McLoughlin, Tyre man Tony Reinke
and wife Jodie Bullpitt.
